GF is an initiative in Nicosia, Cyprus, focused on transforming the city’s landscape, reminiscent of the days when the city was abundant with water, wells, orchards, and gardens. This initiative, now recognised as a National Champion and an International Winner through Climathon, is dedicated to addressing the climate crisis collectively. It aims to build communities by creating communal gardens that welcome people from all backgrounds, fostering social inclusivity, and promoting the circulation of ideas and practices of care and hospitality. Embracing a circular economy approach, the initiative promotes responsible farming techniques and emphasises recycling, reusing, and reducing waste. Additionally, it aims to support agro-entrepreneurship by creating work opportunities and empowering locals to cultivate their own gardens, grow their food, and participate in a sharing economy focused on agriculture activities in the city.
