Ana Paula Almeida, Artistic Coordinator
Ana Paula began her work as a textile author in 2006, creating unique handmade pieces with wool. Her inspiration comes from the surrounding territory, from colors to textures. She is a founding member of the New Hand Lab.
Ana Paula has been, with her creations, an ambassadress of Covilhã and the region of Cova da Beira, promoting the culture and local identity connected to the wool industry. From textile threads and ancient techniques, she creates characters and tapestries that portray the territory.
Ana Paula has a PhD in Paper Engineering at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and Institute National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France). She is an assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, at UBI
Ana Paula combines both educational and artistic components, coordinating workshops for children and teenagers.
