Sébastien Denis is Professor of Film Studies at Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens, France). He is a specialist of film propaganda (in particular during the Algerian War: Le Cinéma et la guerre d’Algérie. La propagande à l’écran, 1945-1962, Nouveau monde, 2009), but also animation film (Les Shadoks. Histoire, esthétique et ‘Pataphysique, INA, 2016; Intermédialités n ° 22, “Animer / Animating”, 2014; Le Cinéma d’animation, Armand Colin, 3rd ed. 2017). He is also interested in the relationships between visual arts and cinema, and in the representations of the military: CinémAction, “L’Armée à l’écran”, 2007; Algérie 1830-1962, Musée de l’Armée / Casterman, 2012; Images d’armées. Un siècle de cinéma et de photographie militaires (1915-2015), CNRS Editions, 2015). He also published the first French monograph on Peter Watkins, and two film analyzes : Wings of Desire (Vrin, 2012) and Tous les matins du monde (Vrin, 2010).
